I had a girl’s luncheon with a friend who lives in Calgary. She chose Parc Brasserie in Mount Royal. It is located on 16th Street and is adjacent to a small green neighborhood park….just like one would find in Paris. Continue reading PARC BRASSERIE – Mt. Royal

JOHN FLUEVOG – Calgary
We have been “Fluevoged”!!! On Stephens Street you will find several blocks of shopping. Among the major name brand stores are little boutiques and the doors to Fluevog is among them. Terry, being the good husband he is, begrudging accompanied me inside. Much to his surprise in the midst of these wild, wonderful, wicked and crazy good shoes were a pair waiting just for him. Continue reading JOHN FLUEVOG – Calgary
U & ME – China Town Calgary
We scoured China Town for the best dim sum restaurant in preparation for our trip to China this October. U & Me is rated number one and we concur. Continue reading U & ME – China Town Calgary
BOCCE – Calgary
Okay, okay….if you have been reading our travel posts, you can tell we (really me) love food and I generally plan our destinations around access to good food and wine. That is only one of the reasons Beaver, Utah won’t be a return destination. Continue reading BOCCE – Calgary
WE ARE SMITTEN
Our visit to Calgary is drawing to a close. We have one week left. The city has captured our hearts for several reasons. It has the vitality of an energetic young population in a hurry to get inside the skyscrapers and then turn the corner and you are surrounded by mature evergreen trees along the Elbow or Bow River; you can walk down shaded lanes of historical homes; Continue reading WE ARE SMITTEN
CILANTRO – Calgary
We have biked all day and I want a brake from the kitchen. While I have enjoyed the opportunity to cook in Calgary…it is nice to go out. Cilantro has been recommended to us by the same friend that has impeccable taste in food, art and style in general. Continue reading CILANTRO – Calgary
VERO BISTRO MODERNE – Kensington
We’re headed down the bike path toward Kensington, a small gentrified district across the 10th Street Louise bridge which connects Downtown West End with Memorial Drive. It’s late morning and we are hungry. We walk the streets and pass several eateries, nothing has appealed to our senses. Continue reading VERO BISTRO MODERNE – Kensington
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN TO YOUR BIKES
We have been riding the bike trails around the city through parks and along side the Elbow and Bow Rivers. Today is the day we will ride into the city. I am nervous about sharing the road with cars. Continue reading LADIES AND GENTLEMEN TO YOUR BIKES
MARKET- Calgary
MARKET – Calgary
Terry was golfing, so I explored the restaurants on 17th Street and decided on Market. The motif is black and white with a modern turn…white chairs with white tables and cloths…black chairs, black tables and cloths. Young, attractive chefs and waitresses. I additional to using ingredients from the garden out back, neighboring farms contribute to the menu. I enjoyed a sandwich named Belt….potato bread, lightly toasted, friend egg, bacon and cucumber! Delicious food with Florence and the Machine providing lively background music!

SUZETTE – Calgary
We went in search of a late lunch on our first afternoon in Calgary. 4th Street offers two and three restaurants in each block as you head uptown. There are chain restaurants like “Earls” and “Original Joes”. Continue reading SUZETTE – Calgary
