We’re headed down the bike path toward Kensington, a small gentrified district across the 10th Street Louise bridge which connects Downtown West End with Memorial Drive. It’s late morning and we are hungry. We walk the streets and pass several eateries, nothing has appealed to our senses. Continue reading VERO BISTRO MODERNE – Kensington

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN TO YOUR BIKES
We have been riding the bike trails around the city through parks and along side the Elbow and Bow Rivers. Today is the day we will ride into the city. I am nervous about sharing the road with cars. Continue reading LADIES AND GENTLEMEN TO YOUR BIKES
MARKET- Calgary
MARKET – Calgary
Terry was golfing, so I explored the restaurants on 17th Street and decided on Market. The motif is black and white with a modern turn…white chairs with white tables and cloths…black chairs, black tables and cloths. Young, attractive chefs and waitresses. I additional to using ingredients from the garden out back, neighboring farms contribute to the menu. I enjoyed a sandwich named Belt….potato bread, lightly toasted, friend egg, bacon and cucumber! Delicious food with Florence and the Machine providing lively background music!

SUZETTE – Calgary
We went in search of a late lunch on our first afternoon in Calgary. 4th Street offers two and three restaurants in each block as you head uptown. There are chain restaurants like “Earls” and “Original Joes”. Continue reading SUZETTE – Calgary
ELBOW SPRINGS GOLF CLUB
The course was well maintained. The grass was in great shape. The rough was brutally punishing to be in. The fairways were soft perfectly cut green carpets. There was very little roll out when you hit the fairway. Continue reading ELBOW SPRINGS GOLF CLUB
ON YOUR MARK….LET’S SHOP
My stylish and beautiful friend who lives in Calgary picked me up while Terry was golfing to take me to some of her favorite shops. Women in Calgary are very cosmopolitan in their dress. We went to the newly gentrified area known as Inglewood. Here are some of the highlights: Continue reading ON YOUR MARK….LET’S SHOP
GOLF – LYNX RIDGE – CALGARY
Lynx Ridge, the first course I played in Calgary, has a very interesting layout, The par three 8th hole was 185 yards from the white elevated tee box and you had to carry the pond in front of the green. The day I played the greens were fast, because they were having the Alberta ladies championships. On hole 8, I used a 5 iron to get 8 feet from the right side pin placement, that left me a straight downhill putt. I left the ball on the edge of the cup missing my birdie. CITY OF SHORTS
The sun has played peek-a-boo over the last few days and when the sun it out so are the beautiful women of Calgary in shorts. Continue reading CITY OF SHORTS
ROXBORO BUILDING – The Mission District
We were hesitant to rent a VRBO. One must pay for their entire stay in advance, cash. You will get an acknowledgement, but not the address until 30 days prior to your arrival and you hope that it is as good as represented on the web. Continue reading ROXBORO BUILDING – The Mission District
CARINO RISERVA – Calgary
Don’t you just love restaurants that live up to the recommendation given by friends? I know we do. Without the recommendations we would not have even bothered to stop at Carino Riserva…the exterior does not shout…hey, this is a great restaurant!
Last winter Toshi Karino opened a second restaurant, this time in the Mission district. Continue reading CARINO RISERVA – Calgary
