The ramp was lowered. We drove in an orderly line onto land from the belly of the ferry. Continue reading Prince Edward Island

Exploring Nova Scotia
In 2017 we spent 3 weeks in Nova Scotia driving from Halifax to Peggy’s Cove, to Chester Basin and Wolfville. This year we are spending 8 weeks driving the entire island. We learned not to always trust the GPS. It will take you on a direct route that may include a few rough dirt roads. To avoid any surprise off roading, we got an old fashion paper map. Continue reading Exploring Nova Scotia
Hurricane in Lockeport
We knew a monster was coming for us. Nothing could alter its path, stand up to it or stop its appetite for the land and the sea and the air. Nothing in its path, including us, was safe or would be the same. It began near the Bahamas and was closing in our hideaway by the sea. Terry’s video below shows Dorian chewing and whirling and spinning its way by Lockeport, downgraded to a category 2 hurricane when it hit Halifax. Continue reading Hurricane in Lockeport
Chester Basin
Vacationing at a cottage by the sea has always been a dream of mine. Tall pine trees filled with singing birds should surround it and the shore needed to be close enough so the waves would lull us to sleep each night. Continue reading Chester Basin
SeaSide HideAways
Labor Day marks the end of lazy summer days. The video below is a visual love letter from two cottages that were our home during our stay in Nova Scotia…..enjoy!
Halifax and Peggy’s Point Lighthouse
We were here in 2017 and enjoyed being surrounded by the sea and rugged coastline. This year we are back for almost 3 months to explore more of the southern coast of the Maritime Provinces. Continue reading Halifax and Peggy’s Point Lighthouse
Iceland Workshop
Being here is a study of sharp contrasts. All four basic elements – earth, air, fire and water – are demonstrated by this land in extreme ways. Steam escapes the earth’s crust between lava rocks in barren fields; active and inactive volcanoes rise from empty, treeless horizons; towering waterfalls indiscriminately punch their way through moss green rock walls in glacier-cut fjords; icy roaring rivers race to the sea while white ocean waves lap lazily against black sand beaches. Continue reading Iceland Workshop
Ah…..The Blue Lagoon
We landed in Reykjavik, Iceland two days before our workshop and booked a stay at The Silica Hotel adjacent to The Blue Lagoon. We sat transfixed looking out the window at an endless black lava field covered with sage green moss. No trees, no bushes, nothing but a barren landscape reminding us we were in the land of volcanoes. Continue reading Ah…..The Blue Lagoon
Why Iceland?
Terry has wanted to go to Iceland for three years. We went for an eight day photography workshop. I began to write our post describing our experiences using words and phrases like otherworldly, stunning, wondrous , dream-like, and lunar landscape…but I failed to put into words the vastness, the beauty and why our breath was taken away by this land. Continue reading Why Iceland?
Copenhagen, Denmark
I pulled a fast one. Generally I follow the rules, this morning I decided to break a big one.
There are over two thousand guests disembarking from two ships this morning Copenhagen. From our balcony I see there are a limited number of taxis to the city and airport. We were told we may have to wait up to two hours for transportation after our cabin number was called to disembark. Continue reading Copenhagen, Denmark
