Lunenburg was designated a United Nations Educations, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Site in 1995. This designation ensures protection for much of Lunenburg’s unique architecture and civic design, being the best example of a planned British colonial settlement in Canada.
We were charmed by the brightly painted homes and colorful signage of the businesses. It was about 96 degrees without an on shore breeze…reminded us of Arizona, exactly what we came to Canada to escape.
