Halifax

We took two days to explore Halifax….you need at least three and be sure to include Dartmouth in your adventure.

Now that I have a Kindle, I’m collecting library cards from all the major cities we visit on our road trips.  Most just require identification and your rental agreement.  I have access to about 9 different systems.  The Canadian libraries offer more English authors.

We arrived on the last day of a jazz festival and ate our dinner to lively music and were entertained by people watching along the outdoor terrace.  Halifax reminded us of Seattle…a hip atmosphere; steep streets (who needs a treadmill when the streets are like being on grade 8?); lots of construction; little coffee houses; a boardwalk along the seashore and great restaurants.

Be sure to visit the multi-storied, glass wall library…the rooftop has a cafe where you can enjoy the skyline view with a latte; the public gardens, a green carpet and lush tree canopy….a perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle and asphalt; the  art museum, the citadel and walk the boardwalk, stopping for handmade ice cream or gelato along the way.
