You never know how a day will turn out. We found the regatta by accident. When we returned that afternoon to see the finish, we walked by and went into an art gallery attached to a big, sprawling estate overlooking St. Margaret’s Bay.
Mary Nowee, the curator of “Not Me Art”, welcomed us. She is a photographer who transfers her images taken from Nova Scotia to Florida to canvas, donating the profits to local charities. We go to talking and she invited Terry and I to “drop anchor”. We returned that evening and have dinner with she and Jerry, her husband, aboard their boat….a 94 foot long yacht.
Needless to say the answer was “yes”! We returned after the regatta bringing their dinner of choice…Chinese take-out. Jerry gave us a tour of the ship….three stories, three en suite state rooms, crew quarters, two kitchens, a huge family/great room, two bridges, and outdoor dining room….and wait until you see the engine room!
At 5:30 we sailed out of St. Margaret’s harbour around the point to an adjacent bay and dropped anchor to eat and watch the sunset. Mary and Jerry are such gracious and generous folks….we had a lively dinner conversation and smooth sail.
