Not only is 1886 Buffalo Café a favorite spot in Calgary for people to go and enjoy an amazing, home-style breakfast, it also represents a unique piece of local history. The building is over 100 years old, and was the home of the Eau Claire and Bow River Lumber Company, which was founded by Peter A. Prince. Price island also bears his name and I thought it was for British Royalty.
It is a holiday weekend in Alberta….the Canadians seem to have holidays every month and I think that is a grand idea. The place was packed. The hostess had bright purple hair, no kidding…she was so sweet.
We rode our bikes through the skyscrapers to get to the Buffalo which is tucked away at the edge of the bike trail between Eu Claire and Chinatown.
