GEORGE CLOONEY!!! VAIL VILLAGE

Gotcha — we didn’t see him or any other celebrities….yet Vail Village had two of my favorite things: food and paved bike paths to pedal. VailVillage14The Village is right in the middle of a paved path that begins in Aspen and goes to Breckenridge. Our favorite ride was out our front door, to the village, down along the golf course, up into the forest to the end of East Vail Village.

Then the food: Sweet Basil and Mountain Standard are sister restaurants smack dab in the middle of the Village with river facing patios stacked on top of each other. It would be hard for me to pick a favorite of the two. We had lunch and dinner at both….luncheon at Basil was a hand cut tagliatelle, lamb ragu, sprinkled with fava beans and ricotta salata that will make you get up from your seat and do the happy dance! Desert was a buttermilk panna cotta surrounded by butter poached blueberries and a lemongrass infused blueberry sorbet. Mountain Standard for dinner….fresh halibut and salmon….
